So… I’ve rarely gotten political on here, and I rarely will… but boy oh boy did last week send me on an emotional roller coaster ride, as I know it did for so many.
Without getting too into it, I was
less than pleased with the results. Let me re-phrase that. I was absolutely TERRIFIED by the results. Let’s just say I had my pantsuit on and I was ready to party, instead, the night ended with my friends and I in tears, holding each other, and fearful of what the next day, and the next four years would hold.
Needless to say, it’s been a rough week… but it’s also been amazing in many ways. I am so fortunate to live where I do and to feel a sense of community rallying around, supporting each other, and celebrating our differences.
So, we let ourselves mourn, took a few days off from the real world, and donned our safety pins with pride. Then, we did the only thing we could do… we wiped our tears, turned off the news, forced ourselves off of our couches and out of our houses and ended up having a pretty amazing weekend. From a fun-filled trivia night at Zeki’s Bar (we won BTW) and a night out on the town that ended in drowning our sorrows in a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos on the #7 bus, to getting out of town and tasting some of the tastiest wines at Big Basin Vineyards… I’ve never felt more fortunate to be surrounded by the most amazing circle of friends. After all, we are #strongertogether, and we will have each other’s backs through it all. As the ever-wise Zac Efron once said… “We’re all in this together.”
I guess what I’m trying to say is… whoever you are, wear it proudly. Whoever you love, love them harder. Whatever you believe in, fight like hell.
